World AIDS Day

  • 01 Dec 2018
  • 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Bradbury Science Museum

World AIDS Day takes place on the 1st of December each year. Please take a moment to support the fight against HIV and remember those no longer with us due to AIDS-related illness.

At Los Alamos, an HIV-1 mosaic vaccine designed by Bette Korber’s team within Los Alamos’ Theoretical Biology and Biophysics Group is currently in efficacy studies in sub-Saharan Africa. Bette and team are cautiously optimistic their vaccine will greatly reduce the rate of HIV infection among at-risk populations there.  For more information on the team’s research, the evolution of viruses, and the history of HIV and Influenza, come experience “Building Immunity,” a new, traveling exhibit created by the Bradbury Science Museum and in our Research Gallery now.
